2019 July: Peru - Valle Sagrado and Machu Pichu
For most tourists, Cusco is the starting point for a day trip by train to Machu Picchu and back.
The train takes you to Aquas Calientes, where you can take the bus to the ruins of the city of Machu Pichu, located at an altitude of 2430 m. Admission is on an hourly basis. Our trip was a little more interesting. Besides the impressive landscape of the Andes mountains and the "Sacred Valley", we visited the Maras salt mines, the Inca terraces of Moray, Chincheros and Urubamba.
I took the train from Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu for the last part of the trip. In my opinion, Machu Picchu is totally overcrowded by tourists and therefore loses its charm. But certainly, one has to appreciate its culture value.)
